User Manual eZwayZ
Introduction
Welcome to eZwayZ
With this app, you can find your way independently in places such as stations, museums and offices. The app guides you step by step to your destination, using visual elements, spoken instructions, vibrations and sound.
The eZwayZ app was developed specially with and for people with a visual impairment, but it can be used by everyone. Please read this manual carefully before you start.
Important:
The app is an aid, but it does not replace your current mobility skills, such as the white cane or guide dog. Always stay alert to your surroundings while using it.
Using the eZwayZ app is at your own risk. For more information, read the safety information in the app, and always stay alert to your surroundings for your own safety.
Preparation and installation
Requirements: The eZwayZ app works on an iPhone with iOS 16 or higher. On an Android phone, you need version 11 or higher.
Make sure your phone has the latest update. This is how the app works best. On an iPhone, you can check this via Settings > General > Software Update. On Android, you can usually find this via Settings > System > Software update. This can differ a little from phone to phone.
Your Android phone must also support ARCore. ARCore is software from Google. With it, the camera recognises the space around you. In the Play Store this is called Google Play Services for AR. Not every phone supports this. Google has a list of phones that support ARCore.
Also make sure you have a good internet connection, either via Wi-Fi or a mobile network.

The IQS consists of the following parts, which you can also see on the overview screen:

Where am I?: The app explains how to hold your phone and how the camera determines your position.
Which direction? – Feel the vibe: You turn slowly until you feel a vibration and hear a sound. That is the right direction.
Refresh my position – Lost the vibe?: You learn how to have your position determined again if you lose the route for a moment.
Repeat last instruction: Here you practise how to play the last spoken instruction again.
Choose navigation style – Follow the vibe
You switch between the three views (waypoints, route line, arrow navigation). During this step, you learn that you are walking the right way as long as you follow the vibration or the sound.
Destination reached: You see how the app shows that you have arrived and which options you then have. The Interactive Quick Start gives you a clear picture of how eZwayZ works in a short time.

Getting started with the app
Navigating with eZwayZ consists of four steps:
1. Where do you want to go?
Choose a destination in the Search tab. Or choose a place via Explore, Description or Tours. Are you at a station? Then choose a departure in the Public transport tab. The app takes you to the right platform or stop.
2. Where are you now?
Point your camera straight ahead and give access if you are asked to.
The app scans the surroundings and determines your position.
With the non-visual profile, you feel vibrations that get stronger when the position is good.
3. Feel the vibe
Turn around slowly. Do you feel a vibration and hear a ticking sound? Then you are facing the right direction to start.
4. Follow the vibe
Start walking. As long as you feel the vibration or hear the sound, you are going the right way. Do you want to stop? Then tap the Stop button, at the bottom right of the screen.
When you reach your destination, you receive a notification on the screen, as well as a sound signal and/or a voice message.
Relocalising
First try holding your phone straight out in front of you, so that the app can refresh your position automatically.
Does this not work? Then tap the Relocalise button while navigating to reload your position completely.
Tips for optimal performance
For the best experience:
Updating the app
Regularly check in the App Store or Play Store whether an update is available, and install it.
Phone position
Hold your phone upright when localising.
Stay still until localisation has succeeded, and point it towards open and recognisable spaces.
Make sure the camera has a clear view, without obstacles (such as a phone case or your finger) or very bright light.
Localisation failed
Try again in a different spot with better light or more space.
If the problem continues, check that your camera and internet are working. If you still cannot work it out, get in touch via info@ezwayz.com
